Hummingbird
I finally put out my hummingbird feeder and it is right out the window in my Study, so I can sit here at the computer and see the little hummers!! Here is a little video...

I Love this little pin cushion organizer I made.
These are my fabric choices for my apron ... which I messed up and waiting for one of the fabrics to come back in stock so I can get it and fix my apron.

Hayley's Drama Club Play
Hayley was in the School House Rock Jr. LIVE play that the Drama Club at her school put on. She did great! Everyone was awesome! Here are the pictures. Sorry for the blurry ones, it was hard when the kids were moving soo much and not using a flash.

opps ... been MIA -- Update
I didn't realize I hadn't posted in soo long ... anyway ... a little update....
- home inspection went well ... so I am starting to pack .. closing on June 15 !!!
- I turned another year older ... nothing special ..
- Had an interview at the middle school .. .should be a week or so till I find out if I got the job.
- Hayley's play is next week !! Yes ... NEXT WEEK!!
- Rik is leaving Tuesday and should be back Thursday night late .. just in time for Hayley's play.
- Rik will hopefully be on "leave" June 1 -5 .. and then leaves June 10 - 20th ... guess .. . that means he will be gone when I close on the house !!

Home buying....
Well, first. .. home buying is NOT FUN!!! and 0% down does not mean $0 out of your pocket!!!
Every time there is another thing I am going to have to pay for. It makes me think ... maybe I don't want to buy a house!! Or maybe I should just have one built.
- It cost us $1100.00 just to put an offer on the house... ($1000 earnest money and $100 option money)
- It will be another $372 for the home inspection + $75 for the termite inspection.
- Now, my Realtor wants me to pay the $ to have the electricity and gas turned on ( to have the inspections done -- mind you the house will not be in my name until we close ... in 30+ days!! )... that would be $600.00 !!!
Every time there is another thing I am going to have to pay for. It makes me think ... maybe I don't want to buy a house!! Or maybe I should just have one built.

Paint colors for maybe new house .. LOL
I know we haven't had our offer accepted yet... but I couldn't help but pick colors to paint the walls ... here is what I have soo far...
Master Bedroom : Walls -- Mercer blue Ceiling -- Cattail
Study: (we will be putting in wainscoting) Top -- grape leaves Bottom-- sauteed mushrooms
Laundry Room: (yes I am painting the laundry room!!) Imperial Yellow
Dining Room: (we will be putting a chair rail in) Top -- Tibetal Red Bottom -- Flax
Living Room: still deciding ... possibly.... sauteed mushrooms
Game Room: still deciding ... possibly .. rusted earth, artichoke and perfect storm

Weekend Camping...
Here are some photos from our camping trip. We had a great time. It RAINED on us all morning Saturday!!! The sun finally came out and we went fishing (caught alot of perch!) and then went Geocaching. Had brisket for dinner .. YUMMY! Made some ice cream, smores, and popcorn. It was a great time... the boys each invited a friend... Rik duck taped Shelby's friend to a tree.. it was soo funny.

Trail Mixes
I went and got stuff to make a couple of trail mixes to take with us this weekend. I thought I would share the recipes :)
Kids Trail Mix
If you need something for a camping trip, try this one.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
* 4 c Chex cereal
* 1/2 c Dried fruit bits
* 1/2 c Raisins
* 1/2 c peanuts
* 1/2 c M & Ms
Preparation:
Put into a large ziploc bag and shake to mix.
BIRD SEED (Trail Mix)
4 c. Cheerios
2 c. M&M's
2 c. raisins
2 c. nuts
Mix well. Place in zipper bags for each hiker.
Weekend Plans
So, this weekend we are going camping. We will be going to someone's deer lease, it's on 380 acres and has 3 stocked ponds ! This is a camping trip with some people from Rik's work. I let the boys each invite a friend since most of the kids that are going are more Hayley's age than their ages. We get to take Delphi also, which is great :)

The past week
Well, the past week and weekend have been a bit preoccupied. I decided we won't be buying a house yet ... I want to wait till I have a job mostly. I also want to make sure we won't be moving again... make sure hubby is retiring!!! I have also decided to get both the boys tutoring.. which is going to cost me some big bucks .. but it's much needed as they are both really struggling !!!! I really wanted to work on my quilt this weekend, but it seems Saturday I did laundry, watched HGTV and DIY all day. Today I did get some squares sewn... but now they are not squaring up ... I decided to look at it tomorrow and maybe I will be able to figure it out !! Me and Hayley made Gorilla bread today ... it was SOOOO yummy !!!!
That was about it. I am hoping to get some real things accomplished this week ... we will see how it goes !

Finding a home to buy..
The past couple of weeks, I have been looking at houses to buy/ build. I found one today that I fell in love with ... first - the slate floors are incredible ... second - the fireplace is incredible... third - there are soo many windows!!! I think we are going to make an offer on this one!! :)
Hayley's Biome Project !!
Just like me.. Hayley waited until the LAST minute to work on a project for school. We spent alot of the day yesterday .... EASTER... working on it. She had to make a Biome in a shoebox using a rock as her animal.. her animal was the African Elephant...Here is the finished product

Cookie's Adventure 4/8

Quilt I am currently working on
This is the quilt I am currently working on. There is a picture of the fabrics I am using and a sample of what it will look like. I choose fun fabrics and patterns cause I am going to give it to Hayley.
Bug Jar Quilt
When Hayley was about a year old, I got the fabric to make this quilt. I still have not made it. I plan on making it at some point this year :)
An ADD moment ...
I sat at the table to start cutting more fabric for the quilt when I see Hayley’s easter basket and remember I have to hide it in the closet. I take it to the closet and see all my fabric I neatly folded the other day on the floor and think I should make Hayley’s pillowcase. I come to the computer and google pillow case pattern. Then see my fave button for Facebook and click it... see a friends cute new baby... awwww ! Read up on friends statuses. What was I doing ??? OH yea... working on the quilt... I go back to the table and realize what I did ... and think ... I should Blog about this ... LOL
Obvioulsy I didn’t take my medicine today ... LOL
